In a first for Karnataka medical colleges, MNR Medical College is assigning a dedicated faculty mentor to each student from day one — providing personalised academic, clinical, and personal guidance throughout the entire MBBS journey.
MNR Medical College's Mentorship Program ensures that no student faces the demanding journey from student to clinician alone. Starting with the 2026 inaugural batch, every enrolled student will be assigned a personal faculty mentor who will guide them from orientation through graduation.
How the Program Works
Each mentor is assigned a cohort of 8–10 students, ensuring meaningful ongoing relationships. Mentors and mentees meet formally once a month for a structured 45-minute session, with ad-hoc meetings available whenever needed. The program is coordinated by MNR's Medical Education Unit (MEU), which trains all faculty mentors in counselling skills and academic support.
What Mentors Help With
- Academic Guidance: Study strategies, subject-specific coaching, exam preparation, and research project support
- Clinical Development: Navigating ward postings, case presentations, and OSCE preparation
- Career Planning: PG entrance preparation, speciality selection, and residency applications
- Personal Wellbeing: Stress management, work-life balance, and referral to professional counselling when needed
"The best doctors I know all point to one teacher who changed how they saw medicine. We want every MNR student to have that person."— Dr. Ananya Krishnamurthy, Medical Director, MNR Medical College
